Microelectronics Education As Workforce Development

This paper describes the microelectronic design education initiatives sponsored by the Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse. These programs were created to support a growing regional cluster of microelectronic system design companies. Both resident instruction and continuing education initiatives are described, and progress to date is highlighted.

Braided Clifford Algebras as Braided Quantum Groups

The paper deals with braided Clifford algebras, understood as Chevalley-Kähler deformations of braided exterior algebras. It is shown that Clifford algebras based on involutive braids can be naturally endowed with a braided quantum group structure. Basic group entities are constructed explicitly.

A braided cancer river connects tumor heterogeneity and precision medicine

With the ever-increasing complexity of tumor heterogeneity (TH) discovered through cancer genome sequencing, it is apparent that TH has become the biggest hurdle for precision cancer therapeutics. Through studying the genomics of exceptional responders to targeted therapeutic agents in kidney cancer, we demonstrated parallel convergent gene/pathway/capability/function evolution of kidney cancer...

DTM and interpolations in GRASS: application to a braided river

The present work deals with the problems related to the generation of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of braided rivers by means of the open source GIS GRASS. In particular, we investigated how to optimize the terrain survey, that is how to reduce the density of topographic points that we have to survey and which is their best distribution, related to the employed interpolation method and with resp...

Metric-Resolution 2D River Modeling at the Macroscale: Computational Methods and Applications in a Braided River

Metric resolution digital terrain models (DTMs) of rivers now make it possible for multi-dimensional fluid mechanics models to be applied to characterize flow at fine scales that are relevant to studies of river hydraulic geometry (HG) and ecological habitat, or microscales. These developments are important for managing rivers because of the potential to better understand system dynamics, anthr...
